New link school on the Isle of Wight

Oakfield CE Primary School on the Isle of Wight has been linked with SLC Coronation Field in Bo. Trustee Amanda Healey visited Oakfield in March to lead an assembly about Sierra Leone, showing photos including some of Coronation Field, and the children responded enthusiastically. They asked lots of questions and enjoyed trying on clothes from Sierra Leone. Deputy Headteacher Mrs Doyle had already created a display board about the link, and Education Secretary Alex was delighted to see his photograph -
Work begins at St Mathias

Work has begun to replace a dilapidated building at St Mathias Primary School in Lunsar with a new block of classrooms. When Trustees visited this school in 2024 they were appalled by the terrible conditions for teaching and learning. Now the old building has been demolished, and the Bishop of Freetown has turned the earth to begin the construction of a new building. EWA still needs to raise more funds to complete this vital work. Pulborough pancake event raises £1,193

The Great Pulborough Pancake Day took place on Shrove Tuesday, 17th February, and was extremely popular. As well as freshly cooked pancakes, there was a huge tombola and a display about the work of Education West Africa. The money raised was shared between EWA and two other charities, and we were delighted to receive a fantastic donation of £1,193, which will be used to help children and their schools in Sierra Leone.
