Primary School collapses!

Tue, 06 Oct 2026 18:09:05 +0100

SLC Ngardonhun, a primary school which educates 260 children, has collapsed soon after the beginning of the academic year. EWA had already been alerted to the poor state of the school, and we have been working to raise funds to improve it, but the situation has now become desperate. If you would be able to contribute to help us build a new school, please use the DONATE NOW button on this page, or contact us at educationwestafrica1@gmail.com We are determined to provide a new school for the children as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.

Great progress at St Mathias

Thanks to the generosity of EWA supporters, work to build a new block of four classrooms at St Mathias Primary School in Lunsar is making excellent progress. The roof is now completed, and the next stage is to work on the inside of the classrooms and build new toilets. A second building with three classrooms has already been refurbished. The Bishop of Freetown has also contributed to the project, and Education Officer Joshua Tucker keeps us up to date with progress. A further £3,500 is needed to compete the project, and this is the focus of EWA's fundraising for the coming months. If you would like to support this work, please follow the 'Donate now' link on our website, or email us at educationwestafrica1@gmail.com Thank you for your support in giving the children at St Mathias decent classrooms so they can learn more effectively.
